Japan increased its imports of medical devices from Russia by 300% in April, TASS reports citing data from the country’s finance ministry. At the same time, the total weight of the products was 20 kilograms. Exports of medical supplies from Japan to Russia also increased by 23.8%.
Grain imports from Russia to Japan increased by 554.8% compared to the same period in 2022.
Overall, Japan’s imports from the Russian Federation fell by 61.9% in April. The neighboring country began to import fewer vegetables from Russia – by 75.1%, fish and seafood – by 31.4%. Imports of Russian coal fell by 80.8% and liquefied natural gas by 10.6%. Imports of iron and steel from Russia decreased by 35.8%, non-ferrous metals – by 68.1%.
Japan is a member of the G7 and supports the sanctions and restrictions imposed by these countries, including caps on oil prices. Earlier, it was reported that the leaders of the G7 countries are considering tightening anti-Russian sanctions in the area of ​​energy production and trade. At the same time, according to some reports, Tokyo has opposed a complete ban on exports to Russia.
