May 20, 2023

Kolkata. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday raided the residence of Sujay Krishna Bhadra, a close aide of top Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, in connection with its probe into the alleged school recruitment scam in West Bengal. An official of the central agency gave this information. He told that the raid was conducted at the Behala residence of Bhadra, popularly known as ‘Kalighat Er Kaku’ (uncle of Kalighat).

According to the official, the probe agency is also conducting raids at several other places in the state in connection with the probe into the case. The raids are being conducted on a day when Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee is being probed by the central probe agency in connection with the alleged school recruitment scam. Bureau (CBI) has appeared in its Kolkata office.

Bhadra appeared before the CBI on March 15 in connection with his involvement in alleged illegal appointments made in various government and aided schools in West Bengal. The CBI is probing the criminal aspect of the scam, while the ED is probing alleged irregularities in recruitment in the schools. I am investigating money transactions.
