Islamabad: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that there is an 80 per cent chance of his arrest when he is in Islamabad on Tuesday to seek bail in various cases. In an interview, the PTI chief said that the PDM is aligning with the army and subverting the democratic system to keep me out. He said that more than 10,000 workers have been arrested and the entire senior leadership of his party is in jail.
Referring to violence and arson attacks on state buildings and army installations on 9 May following his arrest, Khan said: The way they have used the excuse of arson, they have used that response after my arrest. Doing it to end the party. Claiming that hundreds of women and children have been jailed, the PTI chief said: They are now trying to present us in military courts.
The former prime minister said he had no problem with the army. He has worked with former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. He claimed that the ruling coalition is scared of elections. Reportedly, adding that his life was still in danger, the PTI chief said he had predicted that a religious fanatic would be used to assassinate him, just like the former Punjab governor was killed.
Responding to a question, he said Pakistan was passing through unprecedented times and expressed concern over the coalition government not holding national elections in October this year. He said that my concern now is that they will not hold national elections in October as well. I am afraid they will hold elections when it is clear that PTI will not win. According to the report, Khan said that the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that even the decisions of judges and courts are being cancelled.
