Kathmandu. An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 hit western Nepal in the early hours of Wednesday. Giving this information, officials said that the epicenter of the earthquake was located in East Bazhang district.
According to Nepal’s ‘National Seismological Centre’, an earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale was recorded at around 4.06 am in Bazhang district, 450 km west of Kathmandu.
The tremors were also felt in the districts around Bajhang in western Nepal, officials said. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property in the quake, they said.
Earthquakes are frequent in mountainous Nepal. In April, there were two earthquakes of magnitude 5.2 and 4.1. Nepal was hit by a devastating earthquake of magnitude 7.8 in April 2015, killing nearly 9,000 people and injuring nearly 22,000 others. During this time more than 8,00,000 houses and school buildings were also damaged.
