It is premature to talk about a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, there are no prerequisites for this yet. On this subject said TASS press secretary to Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
The Kremlin representative was asked which of the plans for the peaceful settlement of the conflict proposed by different parties is closest to Moscow and whether he has his own version of a similar plan.
“It’s too early to talk about it, as long as there are no preconditions for a peaceful settlement, of course. The special military operation continues,” he explained.
Commenting on Russia’s readiness to negotiate with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities, Peskov said that this could hardly be discussed. “Because any negotiation with Russia is prohibited (in Ukraine),” the spokesman added.
At the end of April, the secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, called for abandoning attempts to organize peace talks with the participation of Kiev as long as Russia continues its military operations on the territory of a neighboring country. The peace initiatives were also criticized on Twitter by Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff. The day before, on May 23, six African leaders had called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine without the withdrawal of Russian troops. Previously, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and Brazilian President Lula da Silva had called to sit down at the negotiating table.
