World Bank President David Malpass said he did not expect a US default.
“I don’t expect a default,” TASS quotes the head of the World Bank.
David Malpass also hopes that the US administration and the Republicans, who now constitute the majority of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, will reach a solution that will avoid the default.
The head of the World Bank also positively assessed the bill passed by the lower house of the US Legislative Assembly to raise the public debt ceiling.
“It’s already at least one thing, negotiations are underway,” added Malpass.
Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen confirmed the risk of default in the US on June 1. She said a default could occur if the US Congress and the White House do not agree on a bill to raise the national debt ceiling by early June.
