American-made F-16 fighter jets are not “magic weapons of war”, their transfer to the Ukrainian army was inexpedient from the point of view of the economy. This was stated by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CNS) of the United States Armed Forces (AF), General Mark Milley.
“There is no magic weapon of war, and the F-16 is not,” he said during a press conference after a meeting to coordinate the arms deliveries to Ukraine.
According to Milli, the initial refusal to supply F-16s to the Ukrainian Armed Forces was due to their high cost.
Previously, the Pentagon had indicated that the supply of F-16 fighters to Ukraine was intended for the long term, and not for future offensive operations.
