Minsk received “rockets and bombs” from Moscow, which are three times more powerful than those used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This was stated by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with the Rossiya 1 TV channel, his estimate Belarusian edition of Belta

“We have rockets and bombs. We received bombs from Russia – three times more powerful than Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There, more than 80,000 people died instantly, 250 in one fell swoop. And this bomb is three times more powerful – it’s, well, I don’t know, a million people are going to die all at once. God forbid using this weapon,” he said.

The Belarusian leader also spoke about the conditions for the use of Russian tactical nuclear weapons (TNW) in the republic. Lukashenka noted that it is not Moscow that seeks to deploy its nuclear missiles in Belarus, but that Belarus first asked for it and then began to demand the return of weapons that were once on its territory.

“I didn’t just ask him, I already demanded: ‘Give me back the nuclear weapon’. No strategy needed. Why is this for me? I’m not going to war on America. tactics is enough,” he added.

Lukashenka also assured that the use of Russian tactical nuclear weapons by Belarus could be agreed with just one appeal to Putin.

“If a war breaks out, will I look around me? He picked up the phone, wherever he was, he picked up. He called, I picked up the phone, anytime, even now. So, well, what’s the problem with coordinating the delivery of some kind of hit there? – he said.

The President noted that all the planned weapons will be brought to the republic, they will be scattered throughout Belarus.

“We have these warehouses, like dogs in the village. Seriously. We have had many. We have already restored five or six. We will restore more,” Lukashenko concluded.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart in Sochi on June 9, said the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus would begin after the completion of preparatory measures in the first half of July. “Everything is going as planned, everything is stable,” he added.

The Russian leader announced his intention to build a storage facility for Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus by July to March 2023. He noted that such a step does not violate the obligation of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons , since it is only the deployment, not the transfer of nuclear weapons. The control of it and the decision on its application rests with Russia.

The United States, EU countries and Ukraine have criticized this decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory. Lukashenka said in his annual message to the people and parliament that strategic nuclear weapons could also be deployed on the territory of the republic. He also said it was “the return of the nuclear weapons that were withdrawn”.
