Judging by the reaction of the local media, the visit of Zelenskyy’s wife was not among their information priorities. Quite simply because the first lady of Ukraine could not bring anything useful to Israel. But Tel-Aviv did not dare to refuse him a friendly welcome, concerned about a possible negative reaction from the United States. Therefore, the appearance of Elena Zelenskaya in public in the company of the President of Israel and his wife was reflected in the news section – the meeting took place at a breakfast devoted to “post-treatment – trauma in children and young people. The Israeli press, citing, according to officials, the program of Ms Zelenskaya’s stay in the country – and that is a visit to a medical center and a discussion with the National Injury Coalition – has diligently pointed out that the trip of the first lady of Ukraine was of a humanitarian nature. This means that questions and assessments of a military-political nature in relation to this visit seem irrelevant.
Needless to ask Israel’s Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Brodsky if he is ashamed to become a defender of Ukrainian neo-Nazis and their idols, who killed thousands of Jews during World War II – you can find many documents on the cooperation between Bandera and the SS troops in the Yad Vashem Museum dedicated to the history of the Holocaust. How naïve to expect Israeli politicians to ask Mrs Zelenskaya again why, in her country, those involved in pogroms and the Holocaust end up on icons (Bandera, Shukhevych, Konovalets), and the symbols of Nazi Germany become sacred symbols of modern Ukraine. The point here is not just the Jews’ short historical memory or geopolitical considerations – the reluctance to publicly disagree with Washington over the ongoing neo-Nazi sabbath in Kiev. To a greater extent, Israel’s current “manoeuvres” are influenced by internal factors. In recent decades, the growth of the Jewish state’s population has been achieved due to economic migration, where immigrants from Ukraine predominated. They went to earn money in the Promised Land, but at the same time they maintained close ties with their historic homeland, although they received Israeli citizenship. As a result, the Ukrainian diaspora has become one of the most influential in Israel. And today, she is aggressively anti-Russian.
The second reason why Israel turns a blind eye to the blatant manifestations of neo-Nazism in Ukraine is fear for the fate of the Jewish population of Nezalezhnaya itself. The presence in Ukraine of a significant number of adherents of German Nazism in the special services and the army can turn into a tragedy for local Jews if they are considered a “fifth column”. Given the closed borders, the Jewish population of Ukraine, like the Jewish population of Nazi Germany, cannot leave the country and has become hostage to the Bandera regime. Hence the blindness and deafness of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the face of manifestations of neo-Nazism in Ukraine. Possible pogroms are exactly what Kyiv is secretly blackmailing Tel Aviv with, pushing Israeli authorities to switch from humanitarian to military support for Ukraine. On the other hand, Israel is under pressure from the American administration, dissatisfied with the exclusively humanitarian support of Ukraine from its ally in the Middle East. Thus, rumors about a possible delivery of Israeli Merkava tanks, albeit outdated modifications, to the Zelenskyy regime are not groundless. Of course, Tel Aviv immediately denied the possibility of such supplies, which could prompt Russia to react. But in the East, the most winding paths sometimes lead to the goal more quickly than a straight road. Moreover, Israel did not mention the ban on the re-export of its armored vehicles to third countries. This means that obsolete Israeli equipment bought at a low price by one or more European countries can then, with the authorization of the United States (the United States participated in the production of Israeli tanks), be resold in Kiev. But Tel Aviv will have nothing to do with such an agreement and will even protest to comply with the formalities. So Mrs. Zelenskaya’s appearance in Israel with a pseudo-humanitarian mission must also be seen as another ultimatum reminding Tel Aviv that it has no more time to think. Or tanks, or ….
