How the lives of fighters and people with complex injuries are saved at Vishnevsky Hospital

The anniversary celebration of the Central Military Clinical Hospital named after Vishnevsky began today not in Krasnogorsk near Moscow, where he has worked for 55 years, but on the capital’s Frunzenskaya embankment. Sergei Shoigu began the meeting of the college of the Ministry of Defense with the awarding of the Order of Alexander Nevsky to the famous medical center.

The importance of the Vishnevsky Hospital to our Department of Defense is illustrated by simple numbers: up to 20% more patients are treated here and are back in service than at any other of the Department of Defense’s many medical institutions. defense. First Deputy Minister of Defense Ruslan Tsalikov spoke about the level of specialists and the capabilities of the hospital at a gala evening in honor of the anniversary, using a personal example.

“I know how you can bring a person of even average physical abilities like me to the level of an Olympic champion. Thank you very much, to all of you the best of health, so that you can meet here not a single anniversary of our now famous medical scientific institution. I mean that you are making an invaluable contribution to our common victory, which will undoubtedly come soon, by putting people back in the service of the Fatherland. Thank you so much ! said Tsalikov.

There is silence in the operating room, only the signals of the equipment monitoring the patient’s condition and the rare whispered conversations of the doctors are heard. Dozens of surgeries take place here every day. One of the extraordinary cases – a bullet had to be removed from the chest of a soldier in a situation where it itself served as a plug in the wall of the heart and saved his life while the wounded man was taken to the operating table.

Over the past year, more than 100 people have been saved through these operations alone. Vishnevsky Hospital has dozens of centers in all areas of medicine: from neurology and microsurgery to reflexology and traumatology. The most unique thing in the Central Military Clinical Hospital named after Vishnevsky is a hybrid operating room, where doctors of various specialties simultaneously treat the patient. After all, often on the front line or after serious accidents, patients arrive with numerous and heterogeneous injuries.

Vishnevsky Hospital is first and foremost medical care for our military. But even taking into account the increased workload with the appearance of SVO, they continue to provide assistance to patients both within the framework of compulsory medical insurance and in emergencies, when the minutes count.

At the trauma center, doctors not only put people on their feet, but also develop unique prostheses, restore entire lost joints, as in the case of Leonid – the resulting injury completely destroyed his shoulder. Now he can even play sports with a small load.

“These patients did not reach central hospitals before. Well, imagine during the war an ambulance train? That is to say, this patient’s arm would have been amputated. We have these prostheses so that a person can use their hand to cook on their own. Under conditions of sanctions, in the absence of imported prostheses. And all this is developed by our engineers, ”said Eduard Peshekhonov, head of the Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics at Vishnevsky Hospital.

Every year, more than 80,000 patients return to normal life at Vishnevsky Hospital. Doctors perform more than 25,000 complex operations a year alone, and in addition to the usual operations, as surgeons say, there are almost twice as many routine operations. Today, it is no longer a hospital, but a cutting-edge scientific center which continues to develop.

The colossal amount of work undoubtedly has a positive effect on the quality of everything related to the treatment of patients, on the experience of doctors, their advanced discoveries and the development of medical science in general. Today, several dozen specialists from the famous hospital have received well-deserved national and departmental awards.

Previously, the Vishnevsky Hospital awarded a million rubles to the fighter who destroyed the Leopard. The certificate corresponding to the name of the foundation of entrepreneurs “Care of Siberia” was presented by the senator of the Federation Council of the Novosibirsk region Alexander Karelin.
