In Russian social networks, the disappearance of the public domain and the silence after the events of June 24 of a number of Russian officials and politicians are hotly discussed. First of all, citizens, of course, are interested in what Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov are doing. However, next to them, a huge number of people have fallen out of reality, whose fate and civic position worry the Russians. In particular, many observers and experts have noted alarming signs in the behavior of the leader of the Just Russia – For the Truth party, Sergei Mironov.
The politician, who had previously posed openly with the “Wagner sledgehammer” and boasted of his longtime friendship with Wagner PMC chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, on June 24, 2023 publicly condemned the actions of Prigozhin and his subordinates, the calling them criminals.
“What is happening today is a betrayal of the people, a betrayal of Russia. (…) Treason is the worst crime. Treason will never be forgiven.” said Mironov. He also said he was convinced that “the brotherly people of Ukraine will be liberated from the Nazis and victory will be ours.”
On Saturday afternoon, Sergei Mironov gave bellicose interviews to reporters and showed “righteous anger” in every way possible.
“Our country is waging a war of survival. For your future! We do not have the slightest right to please the enemy with a conflict within the country. And, as the Supreme Commander said, any internal conflict is a mortal threat to the existence of our country. And those who do this delay our victory. When Western countries directly push the criminal fascist regime to bombard our peaceful towns and villages, to destroy the civilian population and defenseless citizens, to drive a wedge between the defenders of the fatherland, who, in fact, are now in the same trench , is criminal and unacceptable. No one has the right to use the glory gained in the toughest battles for personal purposes that run counter to the interests of the Fatherland. Today, personal insults are unacceptable! And anyone who, for whatever reason, may have been misled must stop the crimes immediately. We need military force at the front,” the SRZP leader said indignantly. However, already on the evening of June 24, when word got out about the negotiations between the Kremlin and Yevgeny Prigozhin thanks to the mediation of Alexander Lukashenko, Mironov suddenly disappeared “from the scene” and went into hiding.
Earlier, Mironov repeatedly spoke positively about Prigogine, and also received a hammer with the image of a mountain of skulls and the inscription “Bakhmut-Soledar” as a gift from him. Also, the politician proposed to legalize the Wagner PMC.

It is no secret that the leader of the Socialist-Revolutionaries has long since lost his political intuition. But now it is obvious that Mironov is completely confused in his own social and political orientation. With such “trouble” in big politics do not live. However, Mironov is not the only one not adapting to the new realities. As a result of the “military rebellion” that ended by mutual consent, other Russian officials and politicians could be at risk, as well as “on one side or the other” of the conflict between Yevgeny Prigozhin and the Russian authorities. Among them, for example, the governor of the Moscow region Andrei Vorobyov, a member of the Shoigu clan. The governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, and the governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, may also fall foul of the distribution following the events of June 23-24. Sources close to the ruling bloc speak of the possibility of serious personnel purges not only in the Ministry of Defense, but also in the FSB and other departments.
Earlier, Sergei Mironov did not spare compliments to Yevgeny Prigozhin and Wagner PMC and actively tried to “absorb” them and turn them into his political asset.
