Cairo, Egypt: Jordan’s King Abdullah and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi have expressed their firm opposition to any Israeli plans to expel Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank. This stance was articulated following a summit held in Cairo on December 27, 2023.

Both leaders, after their meeting in the Egyptian capital, emphasized their rejection of any attempts by Israel to forcibly displace Palestinians. This statement comes amidst heightened tensions and ongoing conflict in the region. The leaders’ joint declaration underscores a growing concern about the potential escalation of violence and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, according to Reuters.

King Abdullah and President Sisi also called upon the international community to exert pressure on Israel to agree to an immediate ceasefire. They highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian aid in Gaza, where over 2 million people are facing a dire situation under siege. The leaders’ appeal for international intervention reflects a broader regional effort to stabilize the situation and prevent further deterioration.

The meeting between the Jordanian King and the Egyptian President is part of a series of high-level diplomatic engagements aimed at addressing the Gaza conflict. Egypt, along with Qatar, has been actively involved in mediating a potential deal to end the war. The Cairo summit not only addressed the immediate crisis in Gaza but also served to strengthen the historical and contemporary ties between Jordan and Egypt.

The Cairo meeting was a momentous occasion, marking a unified stance by Egypt and Jordan in calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. This diplomatic engagement is a clear indication of the ongoing cooperation and close ties between the two nations, especially in light of the escalating tensions in the region.
