Iraq submitted an official memorandum of protest to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the UN Security Council, regarding the Israeli’s violation of Iraq’s airspace and sovereignty in its attack against Iran.
according to Dailysabah, A statement from government spokesperson Bassim Alawadi said the letter condemns “the Zionist entity’s blatant violation of Iraq’s airspace and sovereignty by using Iraqi airspace to carry out an attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran on Oct. 26.”
According to the statement, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to “communicate with the American side regarding this violation, in accordance with the terms of the bilateral strategic framework agreement, and the United States’ commitment to Iraq’s security and sovereignty .”
according to Chinese Xinhua Iraq will not allow its airspace or land to be used for attacks on other nations, particularly neighboring countries with whom Iraq shares mutual respect and interests, al-Awadi said in a statement.
The statement also stressed Iraq’s keenness to follow a policy of preserving regional stability, by preventing any exploitation of its lands in regional conflicts, and its keenness to support the resolution of conflicts through dialogue and mutual understanding.
It is noteworthy that Israel launched an attack against Iran, at dawn on Saturday, while the Iranian air defenses successfully confronted the attack. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of 4 members of the Iranian armed forces.
