Saudi Arabia is ready to act as a mediator in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. The Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Moscow, Abdel Rahman bin Suleiman al-Ahmad, told the media about this.
Abdel Rahman said that The Kingdom, taking part in the meetings of national security advisers, expresses support for all decisions aimed at de-escalating the crisis in Ukraine. It is ready to carry out mediation efforts to establish contacts between all parties involved,
Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with BRICS media leaders on October 18, said that Moscow is not against Saudi Arabia as a possible venue for a conference on Ukraine, but the question is what to discuss. The ambassador emphasized that Saudi Arabia appreciates the Russian leader’s words that Saudi Arabia is a friendly state for Russia and a comfortable country for such events.
“In this statement, the Russian president drew attention to the strong and strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and the Russian Federation,” the diplomat added. “In addition, he pointed to the existence of strong personal ties with the leadership of Saudi Arabia.”
“I already told you: The Ukrainian side does not consider it possible to conduct any negotiations at all. She just formulates some of her requirements and that’s it. This is not a negotiation. They conducted negotiations with us but stopped them after agreements were reached in Istanbul, that’s all,”
The Ambassador noted that Riyadh and Moscow have made progress in strengthening their partnership and that the development of ties between the two countries will contribute to peace and stability.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Russian Federation have made progress in strengthening their partnership, which meets the aspirations of their peoples and creates prospects for the future.
