EU can’t fund Ukraine conflict alone, without Trump’s support, says Viktor Orbán

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes that Donald Trump, elected 2024 US President, will stop funding military actions in Ukraine and this will allow achieving a peaceful settlement of the conflict in that country.

“The war in Ukraine is the most important issue for everyone now,” Orban said. “America will no longer encourage it because Donald Trump hates war. It will affect us too because Europe alone cannot finance this war,” he stressed.

He says “The number of those who believe that they need to adapt to the new situation is growing.”

Speaking on the morning program of radio station Kossuth, the head of the Hungarian government stated that the European Union alone will not be able to finance the Ukrainian army.

The main problem is the lack of contacts

Orban also noted that the conflict in Ukraine has caused enormous damage to the entire world. The head of government is confident that “if there had been no war, the European economy would be in a much better condition. ”

“If Donald Trump had won the US elections four years ago, there would have been no war in Ukraine because the United States would have had a strong leader. We paid a high price for these four years. But now it’s all over. Donald Trump won such a victory that it can be seen not only from the Moon but also from Mars,” the prime minister said.

Speaking about the conflict in Ukraine, he confirmed that Hungary is in favor of resolving it exclusively by peaceful means and believes that the main obstacle on this path is the “lack of communications.” Budapest has repeatedly stated that it considers it necessary to keep channels of communication with Moscow open and has called on its EU partners to do so.

The Hungarian prime minister said that he had wished him victory in the November 5 election in a telephone conversation. After the election, Orban congratulated Trump on his success over the phone and expressed hope that it would be good for the entire world.
