Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The Democrats determine Trump’s challenger

The spread of the coronavirus is increasingly affecting the election campaign before the American presidential election next November: in the important member state Georgia will the Democrats and Republicans primaries scheduled for March 24 are expected to be postponed to May 19 . The state of Louisiana had already announced on Friday that both parties’ primaries would only take place on June 20 instead of April 4, as planned.

Joe Biden continues his triumphal march in the Democratic primary. The former vice president was forecasted to win left Senator Bernie Sanders in Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, and Idaho on Tuesday. Michigan is of particular importance here: 125 and thus a particularly large number of the delegates who were nominated for the presidential candidate in August were awarded. Sanders had surprisingly won the area code in that state four years ago against Hillary Clinton, which allowed him to continue the race until almost the party convention. After the setback on “Super Tuesday”, he also relied entirely on Michigan and invested a lot of time and resources to win here. The clear defeat is correspondingly painful for Sanders. He only got around 37 percent of the vote, while Biden achieved 53 percent.

Before primaries are held again in six member states, there have also been California Senator Kamala Harris and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker pronounced for former Vice President Joe Biden . Both had applied for the Democrats’ nomination but gave up the race weeks ago. The support of the two senators is further proof that the party establishment is gathering behind Biden and wants to demonstrate unity.

After their poor performance in the previous primaries, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is also giving up her campaign . Warren officially announced this in a statement to her supporters. Warren was still a favorite for the nomination last fall due to her ever-increasing polls, especially after Bernie Sanders suffered a heart attack in October. Like him, the senator belongs to the left-wing of the party and takes similar positions. On “Super Tuesday”, however, she ended up in humiliating third place even in her home country, having previously performed poorly in all the early preselection states.

Former mayor of New York, multi-billionaire Michael Bloomberg, is submitting his application for the Democratic presidential candidacy in the United States. Bloomberg said. He took part in the race to defeat Donald Trump in the fall, the 78-year-old wrote on Twitter. Now he is ending this for the same reason. From then on, he supported the applicant, who had the best chance of doing so, his friend Joe Biden. Bloomberg had only decided to line up last November. He focused entirely on a strong performance on “Super Tuesday”, where a third of the delegate votes were assigned. Despite spending more than $ 500 million on his campaign, Bloomberg lagged far behind Biden and left senator Bernie Sanders.

In the race for the presidential candidacy of the American Democrats, the former Vice President Joe Biden put in a spectacular series of victories in the primaries on “Super Tuesday”.
