Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine is 76% effective in the first dose

The Covid-19 vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca is 76 percent effective against symptomatic infection for three months after a single dose, and efficacy improves when a second injection is given, according to a published article. on Tuesday.

The University of Oxford said the findings in the paper, which has not been peer-reviewed, support the UK’s decision to extend the interval between the initial and booster injection doses to 12 weeks.

The United Kingdom decided to protect as many people as possible by lengthening the time between initial and booster injections of the Covid-19 vaccine.

AstraZeneca welcomed the move, saying flexibility to extend the time between doses is the best strategy for inoculation.
