Ukraine asked its Western allies on Thursday to supply tanks to help the Ukrainian military fight the Russian armed forces, which have a “significant advantage in the number of troops, weapons and military equipment.”
In a joint statement, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov expressed their gratitude to 50 countries that help strengthen Ukraine’s defense.
In the joint statement, it is further said , “This war poses a particularly acute danger for the Euro-Atlantic community considering Russia’s overt goals to destroy the European security order and undermine the viability of democracy as a form of social life.”
At the same time, they noted that the most urgent need in repelling the Russian invasion is the supply of modern armored vehicles to Ukraine and the strengthening of the fire and maneuvering capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces with the help of Western tanks.
Kuleba and Reznikov welcomed the UK’s decision to send Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine and called on countries that have German-made Leopard 2 tanks to donate them to help the Ukrainian military.
