Navalny: slow “execution according to the rules”?

– Published on:

The other day, the Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, who is serving a sentence in a colony, was placed for six months (the maximum sentence) in the so-called “cell type premises” (PKT), this which made imprisoning an already unhealthy person even more difficult. This happened on the eve of the second anniversary of the court’s verdict against the opponent.

On this date, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, in a special statement, condemned Moscow for the abuse and torture suffered by the politician and expressed the hope of his release.

Recall that Alexei Navalny was sentenced to real imprisonment instead of a suspended sentence on February 21, 2021. Later, already in the colony, Navalny was also convicted in two cases at once. Moreover, he is now accused of terrorism and extremism. This threatens that the politician’s total term of imprisonment will be around 30 years.

Previously, US Under-Secretary of State Wendy Sherman had met in Washington with Leonid Volkov, chief of staff of Russian opponent and anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny.

“On behalf of the United States government, she spoke in support of Navalny’s release and expressed concern about his health,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said.

According to him, Sherman praised Navalny’s courage, “which was shown in his speeches against corruption, his resilience in the face of almost incessant harassment and poisonings, which almost led to death, and his courage in the face of imprisonment. unfair”.

“The task of the authorities is complicated by the fact that Navalny is a public person”

Chairman of the national public organization “For Human Rights” Lev Ponomarev, in an interview with the Russian service of “media”, admitted that he had thought about the fate of Navalny for a long time, but did not is not definitively pronounced on what the authorities want to obtain from him. Meanwhile, in the course of his work, the human rights activist has been dealing with the problems of convicts for many years, has seen and heard enough, according to him, from everyone, especially during visits from “torture” colonies, where prisoners are subjected to constant beatings, including in so-called “press booths”, and rape.

“There are, of course, more unbearable conditions of detention,” he noted. – In the “torture” zones – a living hell. The life of a convict in the Russian colonies has little meaning. But here the task of the authorities is complicated by the fact that Navalny is a public person, known throughout the world. With regard to him, the appearance of the law must be observed. Admittedly, this visibility is quite unsightly.

The colony in which Alexei Navalny is being held is absolutely “red”, stressed Lev Ponomarev: “The TAPs (house rules) that exist are fully implemented there. Human rights activists have long spoken of their inferiority. According to them, for the slightest trifle, a person can be sent to a ShIZO at least monthly, at least more often. That’s what they’re doing with Navalny.”

According to the human rights activist, Navalny’s story can be used to study all the flaws in the Russian prison system.

“Personally, I consider him a hero,” Ponomarev said. – He understood what he was getting into when he returned to Russia (after being treated in a German clinic). It is clear that Alexey is in fact sentenced to life imprisonment as long as the Putin regime exists. As for the motives of the authorities, it sometimes seems to me: they want to completely suppress his will and possibly drive him to suicide. That is, this is such an experiment, for which the fascists were well-known masters, who at one time conducted medical experiments (on concentration camp prisoners).

On the other hand, if the leaders of the colony receive a tacit order to kill a politician, they will execute it in such a way that the mosquito does not undermine his nose, concluded the president of the national public organization “For the rights of man”. .

“Putin really wants to kill Navalny”

The way authorities treat Navalny suggests they want to destroy him physically, says Alexander Ryklin, editor of Ezhednevny Zhurnal. In his opinion, there are simply no other logical explanations for the systematic attempts to deprive Alexei of the remnants of his health.

“I believe that there is no trace left of the hopes of breaking his will to resist, if they were once in the Kremlin,” added the interlocutor of media. So there’s only one thing left to do: kill. Putin clearly wants it. In fact, we have known this for a long time. What else caused the attempt on Navalny’s life with the help of “Novichok”, when a whole group of special services hitmen were involved in the operation…? Well, we failed to poison, we’ll end up in jail, it seems that’s how they decided at the top.

It is no longer necessary to say that this is pressure, ordinary pressure, says Alexander Ryklin: “It is a systematic work of several months to destroy a politician, an execution according to the rules . To me, it’s completely obvious. Yes, Putin really wants to kill Navalny, and his subordinates are doing everything possible to please the dictator. I really hope that these plans will be thwarted, that Navalny will endure everything. But as for the intentions of the Kremlin, I personally have no doubts about it.

There are no moral constraints for the current leaders of Russia, which is once again convinced by the way they are waging war in Ukraine, massively destroying the civilian population, summarized the editor of the Daily Journal .
