The United States Supports Ukraine in Its War Against Brutal Aggression

– Published on:

During his visit to Kiev, President Joe Biden noted that his presence in Ukraine demonstrates U.S. support for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state.
“I think it would be essential to leave no doubt that the United States supports Ukraine in its war against brutal aggression,” said the White House chief.
The president said he was happy to visit Kiev again.
“A lot has changed since the last trip. Terrible things happened, an invasion, but at the same time the Ukrainians showed themselves in a way that very few … ever showed themselves, defending themselves. And they helped us understand the meaning of democracy,” Biden said.
He conveyed the greetings of members of Congress to the Ukrainians. According to him, they were greatly impressed by Volodymyr Zelenskyy ‘s recent speech to Congress.
The President has expressed his intention to discuss with Ukrainian leaders how the United States and its allies can most effectively assist Ukraine in the struggle for freedom and independence.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the distinguished guest on the porch of the Mariinsky Palace and noted that the US leader’s visit is an extremely important signal of support for Ukraine and Ukrainians.
“Thank you very much, Mr. President. This is an important moment of support for Ukraine,” he said.
The Ukrainian head of state stressed that Joseph Biden and the entire American society from the very beginning of the full-scale war unleashed by Russia stood with Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine stressed that he will talk to President Biden about the situation at the front, as well as about the Ukrainian people, who are going through very difficult times today.
“(About) what we need to do to stop the war, to succeed in this war, to make Ukraine even stronger and how to win this year,” Zelenskyyy said.
Results of President Biden’s visit to Kiev
Social media was the first to report on Joe Biden’s trip to Kiev. Later, the Ukrainian president wrote on the telegraph channel: “Joseph Biden, welcome to Kiev! Your visit is a very important sign of support for all Ukrainians.
Ukraine’s leader posted a series of messages and photos from Joe Biden’s visit to Kiev on social media.
“The first visit of the President of the United States of America to Ukraine in almost fifteen years is the most important visit in the history of Ukrainian-American relations,” Zelenskyyy said.
He noted the “meaning and significance” of the talks and personally thanked Joe Biden and his entire team, Congress and all Americans for the “gained power of Ukrainian-American cooperation.”
Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelenskyy toured the gold-domed St. Michael’s Cathedral and paid homage to the memory of Ukraine’s fallen defenders at the Memorial Wall.
A sign dedicated to President Biden has been unveiled on the Alley of Courage in central Kiev.
At a joint press conference with the Ukrainian President, the White House chief announced that the United States is allocating a new $500 million military assistance program to Ukraine, which will include HIMARS missiles and JAVELIN anti-tank missile systems. .
“Together with our allies, we have already supplied 700 tanks, thousands of military vehicles, a thousand artillery systems, more than 2 million artillery shells, more than 50 long-range artillery systems, anti-shipping and air defense, and everything for the defense of Ukraine. And that’s not counting the $0.5 billion that I’m announcing today and tomorrow,” Biden said.
Joe Biden in Kiev – hopes for a visit have come true
Volodymyr Gorbach, a political analyst at the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation, notes that the hopes of Joe Biden’s visit to Kiev have come true, and the president’s visit to Kiev itself is a very clear signal to the Ukrainian people about in support of the American people and the United States.
“It is also a signal to the Kremlin that Ukraine is not and will not be a zone of Russian influence, and it is a gesture by the American president that he will no longer have any chance of” go back” in terms of counter-attack”. Russian aggression or reduce support for Ukraine”, – Gorbach told the correspondent of the Russian service media.
He notes that after such a personal gesture on the part of the American leader, support for Ukraine with these types of weapons that have not yet been delivered to Ukraine is quite expected.
“It will now be accelerated. It could be everything – I wouldn’t guess, but it could be planes, why not? As soon as anti-missile defense systems appear in Ukraine, American Patriot systems, they will be able to cover airfields where American fighters can also be based, ”emphasizes the analyst.
He explains Russia’s lack of reaction to this visit by the fact that “the Kremlin missed the shot”.
“They missed that shot and now they’re going to think about what to do next, what response to give. Tomorrow Putin’s speech in the Federal Assembly is scheduled, and he might give some sort of response to it,” Gorbach said.
Visit under the sirens of the air raids
The director of the Institute of Public Policy and Consulting, Serhiy Bykov, believes that the current visit symbolizes a change in Ukraine’s position on the geopolitical scene.
“If we recall, in previous visits, American leaders have visited Ukraine on a back-to-back basis, usually at the end of their presidency. Joe Biden shows by his leadership and by the fact that he came to Ukraine on an unannounced visit that history is made here and that Joe Biden is part of this history. Europe has not known such a war for many decades. And this visit had an even greater impact on the world than even former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, because it takes place in a country at war,” Bykov points out.
“They (Joe Biden and Vladimir Zelenskyyy) were marching (through Kiev) at a time when the air raid siren sounded in Kiev and were in real danger. The world today is centered on Ukraine and divided between those who help Ukraine defend itself and those who are on the side of evil,” says the political scientist.
Bykov also notes the coincidence of the time of the visit of the American leader and the anniversary associated with the names of the heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, fighters for the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
