Navalny presented a political program, stressing that Crimea belongs to Ukraine

On Monday, the website of Alexei Navalny, imprisoned for 763 days, as well as on social networks, published his 15-point political program, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine .The document is entitled: “15 points of a Russian citizen who wants the good of his country”.Navalny says Russia suffers military defeat in Ukraine and cites ‘political and economic problems in Russia, Putin’s desire to retain power at all costs and his obsession with his historical legacy’ as ‘the real causes of the war’ .The third paragraph of the program lists the victims suffered by Ukraine during the war: “Tens of thousands of innocent Ukrainians were killed, pain and suffering were inflicted on millions of people. War crimes have been committed. Ukraine’s cities and infrastructure have been destroyed. For the first time, Navalny explicitly calls for the return of territories annexed to Ukraine, including Crimea. The first item in the “What to do?” Navalny writes: “What are the borders of Ukraine? The same as in Russia – internationally recognized, defined in 1991. We, Russia, also recognized them then. Russia must recognize these borders now. There is nothing to discuss. Almost all borders in the world are random and cause someone’s displeasure. But it is impossible to fight for their change in the 21st century. Otherwise, the world will plunge into chaos.Navalny also advocates finding “with Ukraine, the United States, the European Union and Great Britain acceptable means to compensate for the damage caused to Ukraine”, suggesting for example (after the change of power in Russia and the end of the war), to lift the restrictions on Russian oil and gas, but with the direction of part of the income from Russian hydrocarbon exports for compensation. In the eighth point of the program, the politician calls for “investigating war crimes in cooperation with international institutions”.The program includes a section “Why is stopping Putin’s aggression in Russia’s interest?” In it, Navalny calls “for the dismantling of the Putin regime and its dictatorship. Ideally, through free general elections and the convening of a Constituent Assembly.Navalny explains that the objective of the overthrow of the current regime is the formation in Russia of “a parliamentary republic based on the change of power through fair elections, an independent judiciary, federalism, local autonomy, complete economic freedom and social justice”.Recall that Alexei Navalny is serving an 11.5-year prison sentence on false charges and continues to oppose Putin’s regime from his prison.Navalny recently revealed he was moved to solitary confinement for six months and denied family visits.
