Following the shelling of the border town of Shebekino in the Belgorod region, shells hit a shopping center, after which it caught fire, informed Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the region, on his telegram channel.
“According to preliminary data, there is one victim. A man injured by shrapnel was taken to the central district hospital. Doctors assess his condition as extremely serious. All necessary assistance is provided. Operational services are on the spot, rescuers began to die out, ”wrote Gladkov.
The photo released shows black smoke rising from the mall. The operational services began to extinguish the fire.
Former regional manager informed that following the bombardment of Shebekino by the Ukrainian armed forces, the private sector suffered. “There is destruction of civilian facilities: shells hit the private sector – windows were broken in 3 houses, fences and facades were cut,” he said. According to initial information, there were no casualties.
After the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, the border region of Belgorod has repeatedly come under fire. On February 19, during the shelling of the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka in the urban district of Shebekinsky, a 12-year-old girl was killed. The following day, in the same village, the local poultry farm parking lot and building were attacked by artillery. A woman who received multiple shrapnel wounds died – she died in an ambulance.
