At a meeting at the UN, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken opposed an immediate or temporary ceasefire in Ukraine. According to the politician, the Russian side will use any break to rearm its own army.
Blinken stressed that in the event of a ceasefire, Russia would have enough time to consolidate control of “captured territory” and rearm its forces.
“Members of the Security Council should not be misled by calls for a temporary ceasefire or a ceasefire without preconditions,” the US Secretary of State said.

Earlier, the politician called Ukraine’s plans to try to take over Crimea a “red line” for Russia. According to Blinken, “the United States does not consider it wise to attack the peninsula” at this time.
