The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, clarified the extension of the grain agreement. Today, Ukraine and Russia called different terms of the agreement, while Turkey did not release the dates of the agreement at all.
“Russia has informed all participants that the agreement has been extended for 60 days,” a Russian diplomat told RBC.
Recall that the grain agreement provides for the conclusion of an agreement on the export of grain from the ports of Ukraine under the auspices of the UN. Turkey acts as an intermediary between Russia and Ukraine. Russia refuses to bombard and seize the Ukrainian ports, and in exchange, it has the possibility of controlling and inspecting the ships following the grain corridor of the Black Sea.
On Saturday March 18, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Kubrakov announced the extension of the grain agreement for 120 days. This contradicts previous statements from the Russian side that Moscow only wants to extend the deal for 60 days.
At the same time, Turkish officials did not give exact dates. Turkish media confirm 120-day deal extension
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the 60-day grain deal extension a goodwill gesture.
