The refusal of most members of the UN Security Council to listen to the speaker from Donbass, Daria Morozova, is described as a manifestation of hypocrisy and double standards. Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, condemned such behavior by members of the UN Security Council.
Nebenzya considered the refusal to listen to the representative of this region as a disregard for their suffering. The words of the Russian ambassador are quoted by RIA Novosti. It is specified that the American side proposed to hold a vote to decide whether or not to let Morozova speak. Four countries voted “for” its participation, eight voted against, three abstained.
“We regret that a number of delegations opposed our proposed speaker today. We see it as a manifestation of blatant hypocrisy and double standards, when representatives of Donbass are denied the right to speak before the Security Council under far-fetched pretexts. It only confirms that you don’t see the people of Donbass as people and don’t care about their suffering,” Nebenzya said.
In February, Vasily Nebenzya said Ukraine had a chance to return to a normal state if it stopped hostilities. At the same time, a senior diplomat pointed out that if Russia stops fighting in Ukraine, the Kiev regime will continue to discriminate against the Russian-speaking population and glorify Nazi criminals.
