Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The Kremlin questioned McFaul’s plans for Russian businessmen

Former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul has proposed a plan to convince Russian businessmen. He proposed to lift sanctions against contractors who would condemn the special operation and donate half of their fortune to Ukraine. Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov called the plan frivolous, RBC reports.

“The great entrepreneurs have their feet on Russian soil. Their companies operate here, their investments operate here in Russia, their business is conducted here, their main income also comes from here. Therefore, those who stand here, of course, such proposals are unlikely to be taken seriously,” the agency quoted Peskov as saying.

Moreover, as the Kremlin spokesman pointed out, the country’s authorities consider the sanctions illegal from the point of view of international law.

Peskov also recalled that the Russian authorities consider Western sanctions to be illegal from the point of view of international law.
