Lavrov: Deliveries of depleted uranium projectiles from London to Kiev will be another step towards escalation

October 4, 2025

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said London’s supply of depleted uranium shells to Kiev would be a further step towards escalation.

“As for our reaction, of course, we will take it into account in our actions,” Lavrov explained.

However, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley believes that the transfer of depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine is not a nuclear escalation.

Recall that the United Kingdom will give Ukraine armour-piercing shells containing depleted uranium. Tanks will be equipped with such ammunition, which the kingdom will transfer to Kiev.

In addition, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Moscow will be obliged to react correctly if Ukraine’s foreign partners hand over weapons with nuclear components.
