Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The pope urged to start negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible

Pope Francis is in favor of opening negotiations on a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible, said Leonid Sevastyanov, president of the World Union of Old Believers, who maintains correspondence with the pontiff.

RIA Novosti material cites Sevostyanov’s words that Pope Francis considers this option the best for all parties, and that there are not and cannot be other options, except dialogue exception.

The pontiff is also sure that negotiations will start anyway, but the later it comes, the greater the casualties and destruction will be.

Previously, the pope has repeatedly declared the world’s concern because of Ukraine and the Vatican’s diplomatic moves. He also mentioned the possibility of visiting Moscow and Kiev.
