Alongside the most famous restaurateurs and Michelin stars, Sergey Minaev embarks on a grand journey through Moscow’s restaurant industry to discover how the capital’s most fashionable establishments are arranged, how dishes the most exquisite are created and what risks await those who want to connect their lives with restoration.

“At least once a week, each of us spends time in a Moscow bar or restaurant – a date, a business meeting, a party with friends. Some are toasting, others are trying a dish or cocktail for the first time, some are focused, some are having fun. Imagine that this is when a freeze frame was taken – time freezes, and a space opens before the eyes of the guests, in which a kitchen, a farmhouse, an architect’s studio, a market are visible. Here the chef chooses the products, there the restaurateur evaluates the design project. In this film, we have tried to show how the Moscow gastronomic “scene” works: from the garden to the plate, from the first sketch to the opening of a restaurant. And behind all this there are amazing people who give us joy every day, ”said Sergey Minaev, author of the series.

In six episodes, the creators of the project will reveal the secrets of Moscow catering and haute cuisine.

“Cuisine”: Michelin stars show how new technologies can change the taste of the simplest products and give Sergey Minaev a taste of the 3D-printed food of the future.

“Design”: the most famous representatives of the catering industry tell Sergey Minaev how much money it takes to open his own restaurant in Moscow, how to create a unique design and show what happens at construction sites new establishments.

“Creators”: Sergey Minaev meets people who have decided to change their former life and have given up everything to become restaurateurs.

“Foreigners”: stories of famous foreign chefs who, having arrived in Moscow, decided to stay there and changed Moscow gastronomy.

Bars: Sergey Minaev embarks on a late-night journey to find out how Moscow’s bar culture has changed in recent years.

“Markets”: famous restaurateurs decided to unite under one roof, and the markets of Moscow became new places of recreation, combining elements of the classic market and new concepts of catering.

“We are pleased to present a new documentary series by Sergei Minaev on the capital’s catering industry. His previous projects, available on Wink, on the recent history of the country – “Nineties” and “Zero” – have been in the top of the most watched documentaries. We are sure that Restaurants of Moscow will also find its audience, and not only in the capital. Regional industry representatives will be able to learn more about the experience of their metropolitan colleagues, and gourmets who are going to come to Moscow for a business trip or a trip will be able to choose the best restaurant, in their opinion. All in all, it turned out to be an honest and informative conversation about what happens before you get a beautifully served dish in an elegant room,” said Anton Volodkin, director of Wink (the digital video service of Rostelecom).
