Chinese businessman Jack Ma, who returned to his native country in March after a year’s absence, had already received calls for his patriotism, writes the Wall Street Journal.
A source told the publication that Ma had been invited back to the country by CCP officials and fellow businessmen.
Earlier, foreign media reported that Chinese authorities tried to convince the businessman to return so that he would show his support for the business community.
In 2020, Ma criticized the policy of the Chinese authorities – after that, Ant Group could not go public. The Financial Times reported that in the fall of 2022, a businessman’s departure from China was linked to “tough measures against the country’s technology sector and its most influential businessmen” by the authorities. The publication noted that Ma lives in Tokyo and has visited the United States and Israel.
Earlier, the “Chief Regional” reported how Jack Ma made $3 billion overnight.
