Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The blogger from Smolensk became a finalist of the Film Forum “Sheredar” with a story about orphans

Smolyanin Vladislav Timofeev was among the finalists of the VII Sheredar Open Film Forum. This is a competition for film, video and television works, where participants submit works on selflessness, overcoming, acceptance, understanding, compassion, charity and charity.

Vladislav Timofeev is a well-known blogger in Smolensk. He is the author of the Youtube psychological show “Such Secrets”. Vlad shoots most of his videos in the true crime (scary stories) genre. However, his creativity is not limited to this.

A young man sent a documentary to the Sheredar Film Forum “Mom, I don’t want to go to an orphanage” . To film the project, the blogger invited former children from orphanages to the studio and asked them to answer the same questions.

So, for example, the heroine Xenia twice ended up in a boarding school. The girl lost both parents, and her own aunt also could not cope with raising the child. In the show, Ksyusha talks about how she cried a lot when she was in an orphanage.

“The worst is when you realize that you are now alone,” says the young girl in her memories.

When Xenia was released from the orphanage, instead of money, they were given food stamps.

– My friend and I came to the dining room when no one was there. We were ashamed that others bought food for money, and we took it for coupons. And on weekends, the dining room was not open at all!

So the girl lived for more than two months, and only then began to receive money on the card.

And yet, Ksenia still had pleasant memories of the orphanage. It was there that the girl revealed her creative potential: she fell in love with the stage. At the end of the interview, Ksyusha notes that it is very important to understand in time: you should rely only on yourself and not wait for outside support.

…Four heroes, four different and unique stories. And all this in Vlad Timofeev’s film “Mom, I don’t want to go to an orphanage.”

The blogger says he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw an invitation to the film’s forum finale in the mail.

“It was my first serious job,” says Vlad. – And I am very grateful to the head of our production center “Insight People” David Kazakov and cameraman Stepan Kletskin – they were the ones who helped bring my idea to life. And my friend Sasha Buksov spent hours advising me on installation issues. It turned out to be a real team effort! I am also grateful to the main characters who shared their stories from the orphanage. I think the guys are very strong-minded, since they decided to talk so openly about this topic. The trust of heroes for me as an author is the most precious reward! And I’m already thinking about the next documentary.

The final of the 7th Sheredar Open Film Forum will traditionally be held from April 20 to 25 in the Vladimir region. Participants expect master classes, meetings with famous actors, journalists, directors, as well as direct viewing and discussion of competitive works.

It should be noted that the residents of Smolensk have been participating in this festival for several years now. So, in 2021, the shortlist of the competition included the work of Alexandra Kovaleva “28 loops of love”, which was about helping premature babies in the Smolensk perinatal center. And in 2022, Inara Bagirova, who made a report about the public organization of children with disabilities and their parents “Children-Angels”, became a finalist.
