Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

After a two-month separation, a Turkish mother embraces her infant, who was lost in the earthquake

The Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services announced that Minister Derya Yang contributed to the meeting of Yasmine Bakdash with her daughter, “Faten” (3.5 months) in the state of Adana, who was rescued by relief teams from under the rubble of the devastating earthquake in the state of Hatay, southern Turkey.

According to information published by the ministry, on Sunday, relief teams rescued the infant from under the rubble 128 hours after the earthquake.

The infant lost her father and two brothers as a result of the earthquake that occurred on February 6, and her mother was injured and was undergoing treatment in Adana Medical City.

The Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services supervised the child’s care after she was rescued and transported to the capital, Ankara, on a presidential plane to conduct the necessary investigations about her family.

After examining DNA samples, the Turkish Ministry discovered that the infant’s mother was Yasmine Bakdash, who was undergoing treatment in Adana.

Immediately, the Ministry took measures to reunite the child with her family, and she was transferred to Adana on a private plane from Ankara to meet her mother.

Minister Daria Yang witnessed the moments of Bakdash’s meeting with her infant in a touching atmosphere after a separation of about two months, expressing her happiness with this meeting.

And she continued, “It was a true miracle that the rescue teams found the healthy baby girl, Faten, 128 hours after the earthquake.”

She stressed that “the best thing one can do is to reunite a mother with her child,” wishing that God would grant the mother and her child a long, happy life always full of hope.
