Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a deep crisis in Russian-American relations. The reason for this is the different approaches in the conduct of foreign policy, namely the support of states for coups in other countries, the head of state said during the ceremony of presentation of credentials ambassadors from 17 countries, including new US Ambassador Lynn Tracy.
“Dear Madam Ambassador, I do not want to disturb the gracious atmosphere of the presentation of credentials and I know you may not agree with my opinion, but I can only say today that the use by the United States of America in its political foreign policy of tools such as support for the so-called color revolutions, support in this regard for the 2014 Kiev coup, ultimately led to the current Ukrainian crisis and further contributed negatively to the deterioration of Russian-US relations,” Putin said, quoted by RBC.
Moscow, according to the president, has never refused to establish relations with Washington.
“We have always advocated building Russian-US relations solely on the principles of equality, respect for each other’s sovereignty and interests, and non-interference in internal affairs,” Putin quoted TASS as saying.
Lynn Tracy was approved for of Ambassador to Russia in December last year. She became the first woman in history to lead a diplomatic mission to Russia. Tracy arrived in Moscow on January 26 and took up her direct duties on January 30.
