Current US President Joe Biden will not be able to represent the US side at the coronation of Britain’s King Charles III in London, scheduled for May. However, the head of state will be replaced by his wife, US first lady Jill Biden, reports the White House.
“The President congratulated the King on his upcoming coronation and said the First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, looked forward to attending the ceremony,” the statement read.
Biden himself intends to meet the British monarch later. He informed Charles III of this during a telephone conversation.
Earlier, The Daily Telegraph reported that the President of the United States is unlikely to attend the coronation of Charles III. His sources then suggested that this function would be exercised by the wife of the American leader.
