The Russian Defense Ministry revealed details of how an attempt by Ukrainian saboteurs to enter the Bryansk region on the morning of April 6 was prevented. By data departments, more than 15 militants tried to enter the territory of Russia in the area of the Sluchovsk settlement (in the summary it is indicated as “Sluchaevsk” – approx. The Eastern Herald).
“During the clash, the enemy was defeated by artillery fire from the Western Military District. The sabotage group was dispersed and, having suffered losses, retreated to Ukrainian territory” , the ministry said.
The operation involved subdivisions covering the state border of the Western Military District and officers of the FSB Border Department in the Bryansk region. There are no Russian military casualties, the department added.
On the afternoon of April 6, the governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, reported that a sabotage and reconnaissance group of 20 people tried to enter the region near the village of Sluchovsk. The Russian military inflicted a “defeat by fire” on him, Bogomaz said, without giving further details.
On the evening of April 6, representatives of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), participating in the hostilities on the side of Ukraine, announced a “visit” to the Bryansk region. According to them, the fighters in the formation carried out “combat missions”, and also spoke with local residents, handed them leaflets and urged them to “take shelter during hostilities”.
In early March, the RDK claimed responsibility for infiltrating the villages of Sushany and Lyubechany in the Bryansk region. According to the authorities, as a result of this attack, two local residents were killed and a child was injured. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the incident a terrorist attack. The RDK denied the attack on civilians.
