The New York Times reports that the Pentagon is investigating a leak of classified data on US and NATO plans to bolster the Ukrainian military ahead of the upcoming counteroffensive.
It should be noted that classified military documents dated March 1 have been published on social networks, which contain information on the number of brigades and the amount of equipment that Ukraine plans to use for the offensive, as well as than the amount of HIMARS ammunition expended daily.
The Pentagon is trying to find out who might be the source of the leaked documents. Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said the department is aware of the social media posts and is looking into the matter.
At the same time, military analysts note that some parts of the published materials have been changed, in particular, US estimates of the number of Ukrainian servicemen killed have been overestimated, and the number of Russian servicemen killed has been underestimated. This may indicate an attempt to misinform Moscow, writes the New York Times.
