Vasily Anokhin visited the lyceum named after Cyril and Methodius. Here he took part in a round table with teachers, talked with students. In addition, on the basis of the lyceum there is a regional center for the identification and development of abilities and talents in children and young people “Smolensky Olympus”, which also aroused great interest in Vasily Nikolayevich.
One of the oldest educational institutions in the Smolensk region, the Lyceum named after Cyril and Methodius has been operating since 1959. Today it is included in the Top 100 of the best educational institutions in Russia and in the 20 best schools in the Central Federal District. 443 children study here in 16 groups and 53 teachers teach.
The school is independent. There is a boiler room, a canteen, a hostel for 168 people, where children from the Smolensk region live
Of course, as in any school, there is something to fix here. The facade and the roof of the boiler room require repairs. Vasily Anokhin instructed to calculate the financial need for a week to solve this problem.
At the round table, the director of the high school, Olga Ivanova, spoke about the main areas of work of the educational institution. All Lyceum teachers are systematically trained in Sirius Center educational programs. Students show good results in the Olympiad movement. All equipment purchased under the national project for the operation of the Smolensky Olympus Center is actively used by children and teachers.
In the Lyceum and the “Smolensky Olympus” not only the inhabitants of Smolensk study, but also children from all parts of the region. Teachers who work with gifted children in the regions are also trained here.
Many high school students participate in the projects of the educational center “Sirius”, which allows children of Smolensk to find jobs in the largest companies in the country in various fields.
Here it is necessary not only to teach, but also to produce professional specialists. This requires a connection with enterprises in the Smolensk region in order to link education and vocational training into a single node. Guys need platforms to carry out their projects.
Vasily Anokhin instructed his deputy Alexei Streltsov to determine and report to him personally in which companies the children could test their projects.
During the meeting, other issues were also raised: the state of the access road to the school, the bandwidth of Internet networks for distance education, it happens that the networks do not support the load streaming. The interim governor will try to solve all these problems with his deputies.
Summarizing the visit, the Acting Governor pointed out that the Lyceum named after Cyril and Methodius is one of the main training centers for gifted children in the Smolensk region: “We will offer schoolchildren of Smolensk monetary rewards for having won the regional Olympics. Today one of the educational buildings has been renovated to a good standard. We decided to renovate the hostel, put the roof and the facade of the dining room in order so that our children could study in comfortable conditions. I defined all the tasks for the contractor here, on site. I also spoke to the children who live here. Indeed, children are very gifted. And I was very happy that many of them wanted to enter the universities in the region. We really hope that these children will study with us and find fulfillment in the region. We will do our best for that.
