Chinese President Xi Jinping gave a rather generous welcome to French President Emmanuel Macron in order to persuade him to resist the United States of America, reports Reuters.
It is stated that Jinping and Macron went to Guangzhou. Such “outings” are unusual for the President of the People’s Republic of China and reflect the importance the Chinese side attaches to relations with a key member of the European Union.
Xi Jinping gave French President Emmanuel Macron an extraordinarily generous welcome that some analysts see as a sign of Beijing’s growing offensive against key EU allies to counter the United States.
Xi Jinping is currently seeking support to counter the “complete containment, encirclement and suppression” of America.
The agency also credited the fact that European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, who visited China with Macron, looked “unhappy” during the trip.
She was also not invited to certain events with Xi Jinping and Macron.
Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian President failed to persuade Xi Jinping to change his stance on Ukraine.
