Qatar University celebrates the winners of the Fifth Youth Research Forum

Qatar University celebrated the winners of the Fifth Youth Research Forum, in the presence of His Excellency Ms. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education, and His Excellency Dr. Hassan Rashid Al Derham, President of the University.

The forum, organized by the Qatar University Center for Young Scientists, was held last March, under the slogan: "Higher education institutions and their role in achieving the goals of sustainable development"amid the participation of local and foreign youth.

The Committee on Research Participations received 276 papers, 186 of which met the conditions for participation, and 36 papers and posters by researchers from 16 countries qualified for the forum.

It came first in the category "Best research poster" A team of students from the College of Dentistry at Qatar University produced a poster entitled "The relationship between oral health and stomach cancer"while the second place was won by a poster titled "Assessment models used in STEM informal learning" A team of students from the College of Education, Engineering and Graduate Studies at Qatar University.

As for the third place, it went to the student Maria Nazir from Pakistan, for her research poster entitled "Brain tumor analysis of tumors with MRI uncertainty estimation".

In the research category, the student Tasneem Al-Sayed won the first place for her research titled "Design, synthesis and molecular modeling of quinazoline derivatives as dual kinase inhibitors"And the student Zahraa Al-Mahrouqi from Sultan Qaboos University came in second place for a research entitled "Effects of microplastics on gut and liver tissues and the gut microbiome in mice".

And the third place in this category was occupied by students Elias Al-Subhi, Omar Al-Salmi and Ahed Al-Hadrami from Sultan Qaboos University for a research entitled "An innovative approach to convert waste heat from vehicle exhaust gases into energy for cooling applications".

Commenting on the forum, Dr. Maryam Al-Maadeed, Vice President of Qatar University for Research and Graduate Studies, said "Higher education institutions have the most important and major role in leading development and the movement of scientific research and development, being the highest educational institutions with potentials and resources from strong infrastructure, researchers and experts in various fields."… affirming Qatar University’s keenness to support all initiatives that contribute effectively to achieving strategies that put Qatar at the forefront of countries in many respects.

She added that the Youth Research Forum shed light on Qatar University and its efforts in research fields, and its achievements in creating effective solutions to the challenges facing the local and global community.


For her part, Dr. Noura Jabr Al-Thani, Director of the Qatar University Center for Young Scientists, said that the center always seeks to provide opportunities and full support for students from all over the world to share their research and findings with experts and researchers at Qatar University, in a way that enhances their experiences and develops their skills and perceptions. .

It is noteworthy that this session of the forum dealt with a number of topics such as: "The quality of higher education as a goal of sustainable development" And"Legal legislation aimed at consolidating the concepts of sustainable development" And"The focus of scientific research as a means of consolidating the concepts of sustainable development and reaching its goals".
