Kremlin says France cannot mediate over Ukraine as it is embroiled in conflict

October 3, 2025

France is indirectly or directly involved in the conflict alongside the Kiev regime, so it is difficult to imagine a country as a mediator in the conflict in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“Paris now (…) (cannot) claim the role of a kind of mediator, because Paris is in fact siding with one of the participants in the conflict. Paris is both indirectly and directly involved in this conflict alongside Ukraine. Therefore, it is still difficult to imagine mediation efforts here,” said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping, following talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, said China and France call on the world community to resume peace talks on Ukraine.
