Ukraine, insisting on the return of Crimea to the bosom of Kiev, is sinking into its entrenchments. The West will influence Ukrainian leaders to abandon the unsuccessful idea of ”liberating” the peninsula. Bloomberg writes about it.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his advisers have repeatedly asserted that the ultimate goal of the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is, among other things, the capture of Crimea. However, such plans lead the conflict to a dead end, since the Russian side will not go ahead, and the Ukrainians in the foreseeable future will not have enough military forces to carry out such an adventure.
According to the US agency, Western elites will increasingly urge Kiev to abandon its plans for Crimea, threatening otherwise to end military and financial support to Ukraine.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side places high hopes in the expected counter-offensive. However, Bloomberg points out that Kiev’s American and European allies consider it a realistic goal to advance the Ukrainian armed forces by no more than 30 km. The West does not expect more success from Ukrainian activists. The Ukrainian breakthrough will fail, as Russian troops are well prepared for enemy attacks.
Earlier, Western media noted the postponement of the Ukrainian offensive from spring to summer due to weather conditions and a shortage of ammunition in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
