Germany hopes for progress in Switzerland issuing a permit for the transfer of domestically produced ammunition to Ukraine. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said so during a joint press conference with Swiss President Alain Berset.
At the same time, as Scholz clarified, it is also ammunition for Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns.
Germany has taken note of the previous decisions of the Swiss side, is actively following the heated discussion in Switzerland and hopes that something will happen there
- said the German Chancellor.
Remember that Switzerland has so far refrained from supplying ammunition to the Kiev regime, referring to the law in force in the country. This document prohibits the supply of locally produced equipment and weapons to conflict zones.
This position of Bern frankly irritated many European countries, which had almost completely exhausted their stocks of ammunition. However, the EU could do nothing with Switzerland.
At the same time, the Swiss authorities themselves have regularly stressed that they are making every effort to comply with all sanctions imposed on Russia. However, they refused to supply ammunition to Ukraine.
Thus, during a joint press conference with the German Chancellor, the Swiss President stressed that his country would do everything possible to respect the restrictions imposed.
Even if it’s not easy
Alain Berset admitted.
