The Sudanese army announced the control of the Rapid Support Forces camps in El Fasher, in the west of the country. The army added on its Facebook page that a group of the Rapid Support Forces surrendered, while the armed forces captured another group in Khartoum, after clashes in the vicinity of the General Command and the airport.
Last Saturday, the Rapid Support Forces announced the control of several military sites in El Fasher, including the Signal Corps, the Medical Corps, and El Fasher Airport.
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that reaching the required settlement in the country is an “internal matter” that should be left to the Sudanese, away from “international interference.” The Sudan News Agency quoted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying that it appreciates the efforts of Arab and African countries and the international community to help calm the situation in the country, but stresses that this matter is an “internal matter.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the competent authorities have taken all necessary measures to protect all headquarters and employees of diplomatic missions accredited in Khartoum.
In the meantime, armed clashes were renewed, with the death toll rising to about 100 dead. While the General Command of the Armed Forces announced the stability of the general situation, the Rapid Support Forces spoke of shooting down a fighter plane and the continuation of victories.
The office of the Armed Forces Spokesman stated in a post on Facebook yesterday that “clashes took place with the rebel militia around the vicinity of the General Command, and some buildings affiliated with the Command were targeted in an attempt to disperse efforts and cover up successive defeats.” The Sudanese army added that the general situation is stable and limited clashes took place at the headquarters of the General Command. The Sudanese army called on members of the Rapid Support Forces who had provided “previous great services” to join the army, stressing that it would not dispense with the services of the Rapid Support Forces because the country is in dire need of its people.
