Burkina Faso’s prosecutor Lamine Traore said in a statement on Sunday that the incident happened in the Barga area of Yatenga province. The injured were taken to hospitals and a probe has been launched into the incident, he said.
Militants linked to Al Qaeda and the Islamic State group have been waging repeated attacks in Burkina Faso for seven years, killing thousands and displacing some two million. The country was once peaceful but is now unstable and divided, with two coups in the past year.
