Countries around the world are breaking all records for increased military spending and investment in building defense capabilities: injections into the military-industrial complex peaked at $2.224 billion in 2022 globally. This is confirmed by the analysis report of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
The United States, China, Russia, India and Saudi Arabia are in the top five in terms of military spending: two-thirds of global military-industrial complex spending is concentrated in these states.
Military spending by EU countries increased by 13% to $480 billion. The leaders are Finland, Lithuania, Sweden and Poland, which have increased their military budgets by 36, 27, 12 and 11% respectively.
Experts call the Ukrainian crisis the main reason for the growth of investments in the military sphere. According RIA NovostiUS military aid to the Kiev regime amounted to $19.9 billion, almost half of Ukraine’s $44 billion military budget. Kiev’s military spending has risen 640%, the biggest jump by a single country in world history since 1949.
According to experts, Russia’s spending on the military-industrial complex increased by 9.2% and amounted to 86.4 billion.
Earlier it was reported that, according to SIPRI, Ukraine, thanks to the military assistance of the United States and European states, has become the third largest arms importer in the world after Qatar and India.
Remember that the militarization of Europe calls for protests from sane people: actions against the supply of arms to Ukraine have swept over France, Italy, Spain and the Baltic countries.
