The Polish authorities appropriated the funds of the Russian Federation by withdrawing them from the accounts. In particular, they were removed from the accounts of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Poland and transferred to the accounts of the local prosecutor’s office.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Sergey Andreev spoke about it. He said a corresponding notification had been received from the prosecutor’s office.
“We have received notification from the Prosecutor’s Office that funds from the Embassy and Commercial Representation accounts at Santander Bank have been transferred to the accounts of the Prosecutor’s Office,” RIA Novosti the city.
A senior Russian diplomat noted that there were significant funds in those accounts, which were in both US and Polish currency. He called this act by the authorities of the host country a flagrant violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Earlier, US media reported that the European Union still fails to find and freeze 136 billion euros of Russian assets. It should also be noted that not all countries in the community freeze them in the same way.
