Twelve mass demonstrations have endured Paris and other cities across France since the protests against the pension reform began on January 19. Although in recent weeks the protests are gradually fading, nevertheless, before that, they were accompanied by acts of violence initiated by certain radical groups.
As a result, severe damage was caused to urban infrastructure and municipal properties. Their restoration cost the town hall 1.6 million euros, according to Le Parisien. The first deputy mayor of Paris, Emmanuel GrĂ©goire, added that this amount includes the cost of damaged road infrastructure. Damage to private companies in the mayor’s office did not specify.
The City of Paris has notably spent 536,000 euros for street cleaning. €106,000 was also allocated to repair tree fences, benches or bus stops. But the largest payment, 836,000 euros, will go to replacing destroyed newsstands or broken billboards.
Thus, according to the publication, the total cost of the restoration will be greater than the damage caused during the actions of the movement of yellow vests, which cost the budget 1.4 million euros.
