A freight train derailed due to the explosion of railway tracks in the Bryansk region was traveling from a station in the city of Gomel. This was announced in the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus on Monday.
Representatives of the Gomel branch of the Belarusian Railways went to the scene to participate in the investigation. Also, the Gomel recovery train was appointed to help.
“The train was made up of 78 wagons. As a result of the explosion, 8 cars derailed. The locomotive brigade was not injured,” the Belarusian transport ministry added.
Recall that today it became known that a bomb exploded at the 136th kilometer of the Bryansk-Unecha railway line, and then a freight train derailed. The train had tanks with petroleum products and wagons with construction cargo.
Regional head Alexandre Bogomaz noted that rail communication to Unecha would be restored in the morning. Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident.
