Former US President Barack Obama was spotted having dinner with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. This is reported by Bild.
The publication writes that on Tuesday evening Obama flew to Berlin, then went to an Italian restaurant in the Schöneberg district. There he dined with Merkel and her husband Joachim Sauer. It should be noted that all three left the restaurant at 10:30 p.m. in good spirits. Obama waved and Merkel laughed.
On Wednesday, Obama is due to perform at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in the German capital. He is expected to speak about the “great challenges and opportunities of our time”.
Merkel previously said she tried to prevent a conflict between Russia and Ukraine when she was chancellor. She also noted that she sees diplomacy as a necessity in the current situation.
