Saturday at the Tower of London took place Coronation of British King Charles III. Former Prince Charles ascended the throne and accepted oaths of allegiance from clergy, high nobility and family members. Russian media has collected the highlights of the coronation ceremony of Charles III.

During the solemn ceremony, the relics of the British crown, traditional for the coronation, were used: the staff of Saint Edward, the spoon of the coronation, as well as the legendary Skunk stone. The ceremony was officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The colorful ceremony drew thousands of guests from around the world to London. The last time a British monarch was crowned was in 1953, when Charles’ mother, Elizabeth II, succeeded his father, George VI, to the throne.
